I posted this on the CAC forum. Here's what one guy said. I see what he's pointing out. But when I magnify that area in hand you can't really see any of it. View attachment 1540105
Have you tried any image manipulation? Sometimes, color inverting, going to black/white, enhancing contrasts and the like, can really make some things jump out at times.
This isn't the location for the mm. It should be more left towards the arrow corner. I'm waiting on my dealer to open. Any of you familiar with rare coins of new Hampshire. I'm going to try to take it there today and have them guys look at it.
Image courtesy of Heritage. It is the only image of a similar coin similar year and MM. My MM should be noticeable.
Cheers to that! And it's a lot prettier than my 1860-S quarter that I paid about the same for that will never get a bean! Congratulations!
For those curious, here is the update. Went to RCNH had my friend there look at it and we had to get Warren to make the final determination. It is in fact an 1869S. The s mint mark is worn off. The diagnostic used to identify this as an S mint came from "The comprehensive encyclopedia of united states liberty seated quarters" by Larry Briggs. There is a die crack across liberty head on the obverse. You can't even hardly see it in the pictures. In hand i had to have my 30x loupe and this picture out to really finally see it. But it is in fact correct. Even those guys understood why I was bringing this to them for the opinion.
I had wondered if it had a die marker only known for the 69S. It's got a good skin on it for a low ball. Fun coin Vertigo.
