Weird flan on antoninianus of Aurelian

    I thought I'd share this coin which came in an unidentified hoard. The flan is actually bent backward significantly, so I am wondering how this happened. It was either a problem with the dies or somehow bent in ancient times. IMG_20170505_151511.jpg

    Actually the "bent" aspect doesn't really show up in the photos. It is inclined about 30 degrees, so the obverse stands out and the reverse is curled. Fairly pedestrian coin, IMP AURELIANUS AVG on the obverse and CONCORDIA AVG on the reverse

    By the look of it with bits missing it looks like someone has tried to destroy it, but otherwise nice coin.

    It looks like a decent coin, but the image is too small to tell much. I've taken the liberty of cropping the image so there is more coin and less background.
