Weird copper nickel?

    Hello i am new to this site but i couldnt het any answers about my nickel its a 1939 and its copper it seems its really strange has anyone ever heard of such a thing

    Correct.. With Environmental Damage. Exposure to the elements while buried..

    Welcome to Coin Talk. Your 1939 Nickel is make of 75% copper and 25% nickel.
    Being heated, buried in the ground, exposure to chemicals can all make this metal change color. This is a fairly common question here on Coin Talk.
