I like history, mainly to study how and why things happened so as to help analyze current events based on past experience, much like Asimov's idea of pyschohistory. I'm into collecting for two reasons primarily: my love of history and my anal retentive desire to have a perfect set of things, like coins. My first coins were given to me by my grandfather on my dad's side, including an antique stopwatch from 1899. Once I saw the coins from other countries, I was hooked. I've been slowly collecting for years now, but just recently got back into full-swing when I saw the selection on eBay. Now I have to find ways to justify spending more money on coins...this will consume most of my time for a while. My favorite coins are ones that are from parts of history that I find interesting, mainly ancient Rome, Civil War, and WWI & II. Also just about anything from Britain or it's former colonies...especially Canada because of their astounding mint. One day I'll have enough money to buy a gold maple leaf...and on that perfect day the world will end. Found this forum when I google'd an ebay coin to find out about it.[/QUOTE]
