Running across this photo got me thinking if there really are any practical things we can do to restore the gold standard in America. This call-to-action asks for those that want the fed abolished to mark a red circle around "federal reserve note" on every one of their bills. What do you think? Is this trivial or effective? Do you think there is really anything we can do to restore sound monetary policy in America? I have three thoughts: (1) We should never give up our message of sound money. This is why I love Ron Paul so much. For decades, he continues to send the same sound money message everywhere he goes. We (still) have the freedom to blog about it as much as we want and post our beliefs on great forums like this one. We can also continually send the sound money message to our state representatives. (2) Train our children and the next generation to understand why the current financial system is severely flawed. There is no telling what they can accomplish. (3) Work as hard as we can to elect politicians that favor Austrian economics in the local, state and national levels. Some of us civilians may even want to consider running for office. (4) Continue to invest in bullion, gold, silver, etc. If we predominately (or completely) invest in bullion we keep our money out of a failing market and the Keynesian's hands. Doing this (hopefully) keeps them from wreaking more financial havoc. And, I would also like to think that it sends them a strong message. What do you think?
