Because they are not capable of thinking. Computers are great at doing computations and they are great at playing games because playing games does not require thought. Games only require a programmed response to any given situation.

A 3 year old can out think the most advanced computer.

Well there are AI programs that will approach human thought. And I can think of how a computer could be programmed to differentiate uses of "to", "too", "two", and so forth.

Law enforcement, with the most powerful programs, could nail the violent gangs and dry up their money supply through advanced systems, surveillance, pattern analysis, database searches, and so forth. I am sure there are much smarter computer people here than I am that could explain cutting edge programs now available.

moneyer12 i just love UK coins.......

we have such conmen over here too, a few years ago a shop opened in my local town selling collectables, his banner proudly proclaimed we are the country's top buyer of coins, i wandered in one day to browse and a young woman came in with a victoria jubilee double florin, i was really interested as to what this guy offered her as from my first look i could tell it was the incuse 1 variety and worth considerably more than other varieties. he then began his spiel about how the coin was common? and that they weren't really popular with collectors? he then offered £3 yes £3 i couldn't help myself but intervene and at that time i was trading and a member of the british numismatic trade association which is our regulatory body. i challenged this shyster to identify which variant of the double florin it was and he obviously couldn't, to his annoyance i made the woman a spot offer of £100 cash as the coin was quite a rare die variety and in any case double florins were highly prized by collectors. the guy blew a gasket and ordered me out of the shop threatening physical harm, but i calmly left taking the young woman by the arm and making her leave with me. she was delighted to hand the coin to me for the £100 and ok i made a profit from it's re-sale but i was happy to stop an unknowing person from being ripped off. from that day i made it my mission to drive this person out of business and succeeded 3 months later following a lengthy complaints procedure with the local business license office.

I'm aware of what computers can do. Also aware of what they cannot do. Thinking is something they most likely will never be able to do.

But let's get back on the subject at hand - both of us. This was my fault.
