It wasn&#039;t long after the Washington dollars were released, that these so called edge errors started popping up. Most of the scams were that the lettering was upside down on the coins, which the Mint dissuaded as a falsehood as they do not intentionally orient the coins into the machine that does the edge lettering with regards to heads being up or down.
