One is from the US mint as a "collector" item and the other is a bank roll. Should I open them both and if so, what should I be looking for?

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

That bottom roll looks like it's been exposed to some kind of liquid. Coins don't like that. They might just be spenders because of that.

Primarily, you should be looking for those missing either all or partial edge lettering.

My GW attributed by NGC MS64 missing partial edge lettering sold at auction on eBay in 2012 or 2013 for $228.

I'd open neither. Better chance of selling the roll for a profit for the missing edge lettering. :)

Remington gun oil. That's the problem with sharing a gun safe with coins. The gun side is almost empty now. Residual oils. Grrrrrr. No errors in that roll, just sticky spenders.

Nothing special in the other roll. The chase for riches was more rewarding than selling. Sure are some bright and shiny beauties in that roll.
