Hi all, I collect thai coins mostly, I'll update you all with my collection once I get my NGC submission back..........19 coins, eagerly waiting!! In the mean time, I want you to see if you felt I was right in telling the seller that their coin was possibly a counterfeit and even gave them a link: Real thailand 4 att: this is a large crown sized copper, 1 year date and rare! https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces24454.html The pic is from a slabbed 4 att from Heritage auction Fake 4 att: http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,29573.0.html Ebay 4 att: https://www.ebay.com/itm/A-D-1876-J...rentrq:7afab7f21630a86676b1ce3afff8b607|iid:1 The ebay one has the same key marks in the reverse middle as the 2 fakes in that worldofcoins link. Overall when examining pics of the real vs the fake, the fakes are very well made. Same size and nearly the same weight. Some mushiness overall but pretty convincing. What say you? Thanks!
It's really up to the buyers to decide these days... As mentioned in my other post - it's never been a better time to be a counterfeit peddler sadly.
hmm, just looking at the last allegedly fake pic is hard to say. For that kind of money, id want my coin graded when i bought it, or at least some kind of return policy in case i found out it was fake
Good catch! The "damage" matches up perfectly with the fake from the worldofcoins.eu link. Clearly fake beyond debate
@Numismat thanks for taking the time to look! Yep, when I saw that and was almost ready to hit the buy it now, I said wait a moment......pulled up the worldofcoins link and compared it. When I saw the same damage marks or whatever you call it in the same exact place as this one on ebay.....I immediately emailed the seller......of course I got the whole: "I've owned this for many years".
