I have never seen one of these before and can’t find anything about it on the web. Can someone help provide some information on the coin? Why it has silver on the face with gold background? Thanks guys

Got the coin from a gas station in my change. It’s covered in some coating, and is virtually mint. Given I paid nothing for it, it looks like (based on eBay) I hit a little a score! Definitely will be adding to my collection. Thank you for your help!

cool find, but because they plated it know that coin is now damaged.

The coin was produced like this. Still can’t find anything on where the plating process took place or if this was a limited issue. still a cool find for only paying face value.

Your coin did not leave the mint like this. It was plated by an outside for sale as a novelty. You see stuff like this advertised in the backs of magazines and on overpriced TV shopping shows.

The plating will make it look better than it is.
Those reprocessed 1943 steelies always look great.
I like the way your coin looks, but it's a dollar.
However it is a low mintage, probably NIFC. What is the mint mark on the edge?
