You must have a different version of the USPS than me since I'm pretty sure that my USPS makes at least 3 attempts and wait at least 5 days before returning to the sender.

I think my local mailman has caught on to what I'm getting. I've had a few packages disappear and lately I've been finding a lot of my letters with a little rip so they could look to see what's inside. Anything with tracking hasn't been touched but if they just send a coin in a envelope, sometimes it's gone. I had a letter from a good friend from France that I never received :(

I spent all day looking for it, telling everybody I could at the postal service, then the boss called me and said I have your package . Wasn't on the wrong truck, had the right address on the label, and last, scanned in as UNDELIVERABLE AS ADDRESSED . Heres the link to the tracking information https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input?qtc_tLabels1=9400109699939922965425

That "little rip" in the envelope is nothing more than a by product of the sorting machines used by USPS.

And for the record, people that send coins loose in an envelope, are just asking for problems with their buyers. Even if the coin is in a 2x2, it should be held firmly in place to keep from bashing its way out of the envelope.

As for my local mail "person", I trust them implicitly. I leave a stack of pre-signed receipts just so I do not have to drive the 3.5 miles down the mountain to sign for some package. I also trust my UPS and FEDEX Delivery folks since delivering packages "is their business" and I HAVE to trust that they will respect my privacy about what I order online.

That is really a vague combination of words. Be sure to let folks know when it arrives either tomorrow or Tuesday.

    So............it was delivered?

And it has not been "lost" or "pilfered" of absconded with to the secret lair of your postal person because they just happen to collect coins?

The coin was delivered yesterday....that's why he has the pictures too. But it was after a few phone calls and the head USPS person having to make the home delivery.

A more appropriate, although much less humorous thread title might have been "New scam, just like everyone else mail carriers sometimes make mistakes".

I was very fortunate, for the past 4 years my letter carrier was also a coin collector. I would always tell him what I was expecting and show it off when it arrived. He would do the same, he even bought a few duplicates from me. I trust the USPS and have seen odd things happen that were resolved quickly enough. One time I had a coin come to my local P.O. then get routed to the next county and be sent "out for delivery" for some reason. But it wasn't delivered to that random stranger in Cherry Valley (thank goodness), it was sent back to my town and finally delivered. That happened once with a coin I sold as well! I'm not sure exactly what would have happened if those 24 hours had past after your Morgan Dollar was marked as not deliverable, and I hope it wasn't an attempted theft, but I know that happens too.
We have a new letter carrier now, but I think Jeff keeps an eye on him for me at the office......hehehe. Friends in high places :p

Be friends with your carrier! It's more fun to give a few $20's around holidays than have a few $100+++ coins go missing.

You stand correct, I have a feeling she will be gone, her boss was asking question on how deliveries service has been, told the boss we don't get mail at least twice a week ..

Try reading look at post #1

With all respect I am pretty sure no one needs the opinion of someone so important that they don't have time to read the posts they think we need to hear their uninformed opinion on. I know that I sure don't. I guess it is just a pattern for you to post like that without having a clue what is being discussed.
