Under 12x and good lighting I can see no trace of a mint mark on this 1943 war nickel. I realize that only 1944 is a recognized Henning possibility, so I, of course, heavily lean toward this coin being a greaser. I see no defect in the R of Liberty, either, but I have read that not all Hennings have the defect. It might be pareidolia but sometimes I see a faint P above the dome. At other times I see nothing. So, what is your opinion? Steve
I am one of those guys that never can see an image in the dots..... I looked every way I know how. I do not see it myself.
I "think" I see a "P" in the first photo, but it's much closer to the dome than this example... Edit: The "P" appears in the correct position in the second picture...I don't know.
Yes, a "P" but your outline is too small. These MM's were ginormous compared to those of other coins. They were proud of the mints back then.
