Customer Sues Walmart For A 'Humiliating Ordeal' At The Hands Of Two Employees Turn out the bills were genuine.
"Police came two hours later and determined that the bills were legitimate, she says. The officer apologized and instructed the manager to replace the bills that were torn up." That's nice. Now replace/restore my dignity.......
But Walmart is quite happy to dispense counterfeit notes! http://www.businessinsider.com/walmart-counterfeit-100-dollar-bill-2012-9
because a bill with a cerial number of 000000000 can fool people. Something tells me thats not the real fake bill...
The image is not that of the fake note. Look at the listed source of the image, The Federal Reserve. That is probably a promotional image for the design upgrade. I don't even believe that design, series 2009, is in circulation.
We get counterfeits at work at least once a week. Usually in the 20 and 100 dollar denominations. Being a currency collector and in security I get to see every note that is confiscated. At the beginning of September I arrived at work as usual. When I sat down at my desk I noticed another counterfeit currency report. Attached to it was the counterfeit 50 dollar note in an evidence baggie. Upon closer examination I informed my superiors that the note was not counterfeit. The first question I asked was, "Did anyone bother to notice the date on this note? It was a 1950 50 dollar note. It was still in pretty good shape, a few folds and no major wrinkles. The person who tested the note had marked it all up with that detection pen. I cried inside as I am sure it would have been worth more than face value. I am no expert by any means, but I've gotten pretty good at detecting counterfeits. When I told my boss the note was real, her reply was, "perhaps the owner can get it back and we can issue an apology." I offered to talk to the head of some of the departments that directly handle money to teach these young people a thing or two about old currency, what it looks like, and what it feels like. More importantly no security strip feature before the 1990s. ( that I can recall anyways ) At a casino, you never know what people will pay with. So far I've been able to collect a 1906 D Barber Half dollar, and a 1928S SLQ. It pays to know the cage directors. ( I work at a casino )
I personally don't understand why they ripped up the bills. Even if the bill is counterfeit there is a process for that. Store employees have no right to rip up bills from customers. Thats why we have things like police and criminal investigators.
"At this time, he attempted to hand plaintiff the two torn $100 bills he had misappropriated to her," the complaint states. "When plaintiff objected to receiving torn bills, Officer Edwards instructed Manager Russell to replace the bills he had wrongfully taken and destroyed." wow i would not want the torn up bills ether
2 hours sounds about right...coffee and an apple fritter at the local donut location. They were probadly checking for counterfeits there before moving on to the next call.
In deteoit mi cops dont even show up then some people call the cops on cops. I once seen 6 cop cars at a donut shop all inside eating
Add this to the hundred other reasons I don't shop at Wal-Mart. I only recommend people go to Wal-Mart if they are doing a project for their abnormal psychology classes.
Without Walmart, we wouldn't have one of the greatest YouTube videos of all time!
I try not to use Walmart! The last time I shopped there I used 11 Prez dollars Casher told me Walmart won't take them. I told her to get a manger. They took them but wasted about 20min of my time
