W.A.S. medal - War of the Austrian Secession?

    I recently picked up a medal dated 1931 with a legend "W.A.S."

I bought the medal for the equestrian design on the obverse, but I'm quite curious about what the abbreviation might mean. A google search for W.A.S. did not pull up anything seemingly relevant. Perhaps an Austrian sports league or something similar?

The only other abbreviation I came up with is the "War of the Austrian Secession". Was there any related anniversary in 1931?

Without pics, etc. ;) My first guess would be the "Worker's Olympiad" which in 1931 was in Vienna. This article mentions an organization named "Workers and Amateurs in Sports". But quite a few of my wild guesses have turned out to be wrong ...
