    Just checked it myself:

    Submission date:
    2011-04-12 21:56:44 (UTC)
    Antivirus report:
    Webscan result: 0 /6 (0.0%)
    Normalized URL: http://i191.*/albums/z242/papasteeze/Coins/9d2972af.jpg
    URL MD5: 35e68094fd306875290f293236a0b1a1
    Content-Type: image/jpeg

So, yeah, false positive is a possibility.

Kind of weird for it to be a false positive when it wasn't yesterday, or at any time previously. Especially since the virus is almost 3 years old.

I just checked several of his images using Virustotal - they are all infected.

I checked one (9d2972af.jpg), showed no infection. Maybe i picked a clean one.

I don't know what you are checking, but everything I am checking says this -

0 VT Community user(s) with a total of 0 reputation credit(s) say(s) this URL is benign. 0 VT Community user(s) with a total of 0 reputation credit(s) say(s) this URL is malicious.

Being the skeptic that I am... well, something just doesn't seem kosher about this. Is this an isolated case, or are there other PB accounts that have been "hacked"? Just thinking about other possibilities, based on some of the posts I've read over the past day or two. Not sayin', just thinkin'...

What did the line "Webscan result:" say? My check said 0/6, meaning not infected.

Good catch, Doug. I have pretty good virus protection, but I'd still rather not chance it.

It's sad to see so many threads loose so many pics, but I'm glad to know the Mods are all over this issue. Thank you!

The pictures are not lost. They are temporarily disabled. When the situation with the virus is resolved they will be re-enabled.

While I appreciate the mods trying to protect us, these are false positives by probably one of the two or three(horrible) mass-marketed cash cow AV programs. In this case I would guess Norton's. It's had issues before with false positives from the meta-data in images from Photobucket.

I just viewed a ton of images from EyeEat and nothing. Bloodhound is a relatively innocuous and easily remedied virus, so I wasn't that worried.

Plus there's the little caveat that you couldn't imbed the Bloodhound virus into a true jpeg file regardless of how hard you tried!

I'm just glad that someone is paying attention to what's going on here at CT. Maybe, the virus is benign or a tool of the anti-vurus companies. At least it was noticed here instead of slipping by and possibly doing some real damage.

Huh, considering I was clicking on his pics yesterday left right and center, and I have Norton and nada....
