Anyone else notice that the PCGS registry set for Victorian Canadian large cents changed on Monday?? Double Punched #3, Double Punched #4 and Double Punched #5 are now in there. http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/Composite.aspx?c=370 That explains why someone snapped up my ICCS Double Punched #5 so quickly on Tuesday from eBay.... I would expect a minor surge in prices for these coins, as the registry players struggle for completion. #5 is especially hard to find.
Hello again, will you please educate me on what are registry sets and their purpose? I understand why people get coins graded. However, this is my first encounter with registry sets and I'd like to learn about them. Cheers
Registry sets serve many purposes. For some, it is about completion of a set, for others, it is competitive, acquiring the best coins they can find or afford... Generally it is pretty quiet for Canadian coins, compared to the US sets, but I do have a couple sets for fun: http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/alltimeset.aspx?s=82059
PCGS just did another update. The triple punched 9 and inverted 9/6 have been added to the Victorian Large Cent Registry. http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/SetComposition.aspx?c=370
