Here are some of my favorites, all British though. Some of the overseas examples are really exquisite, I just haven't picked any up. Young Head Sixpence Gothic Florin Jubilee Head Sixpence Veiled Head Penny
Will try and scan my 1847 Gothic Crown but at present it is in the bank and I'm travelling . So this one will have to do for now???
Wow, you guys are posting some nice pictures. Thanks. When I was working in India about five years ago, I looked for some coins, pre-Indian Independence and all I could find was fake crowns, likely made in China. Even a worn penny or six-pence would have made a nice souvenir. Guy selling the crown on the street 'gave me his word it was real'! ha. lifted it in my hand and wasn't silver, heavier than Aluminum, perhaps somekind of pewter. - anyway, nice coins here.
I have tons more Vickies but nothing like these. Love the Jubilee Medal and the Copper Proof reverse.
It is one of many "fantasy" crowns issued around 2000-2001. They are extremely high quality, relatively low mintage, and were issued by the INA (International Numismatic Association) under the term "retro patterns" -- also known by some as the Spink Patina Retro Patterns, after the Spink sale in July 2001 where many were sold.
Very suprised there's not been any Canadian coins yet. Let's change that. Nice scarce jersey issue. Something a bit different from your usual Indian rupees, it's the scarcer of the two issues too And lastly the most beautiful Canadian provincial token I'll have more that's for sure I'll have to take a look and see if any are worth posting tomorrow. Great thread
