Are world war 2 era coins commonly counterfeited?

There are a ton of these out there and there's no reason to counterfeit them. Yours is fine.

    Is it aluminum? Looks Aluminum.
Don't see a reason why anyone would bother to make these into fake coins.

Neither Gadoury nor Le Franc has any notes about counterfeits of that coin, so I would guess it's authentic.

Another incentive not to counterfeit, the Germans would hang you.

Your coin was minted by Paris Mint (no letter).

This is 1 franc of Castelsarrasin Mint (letter "C").

Scarce or rare dated aluminum coins have been counterfeited. I do have some scarce Chinese (Manchukuo) examples and needless to say, I have got stung by counterfeits. Does not hurt to be cautious.

Yeah, but this is neither scarce nor rare.

It is common coin. I got mine for 50 cents.

It's a common aluminum coin, so not likely to be counterfeit. Thank you for being so kind.
