Hey, im not sure if this is against rules but I would like to direct the veterans here to the CVMA, an Non for profit organization that aids vets in need. www.combatvet.org

As a vet I would like to thank all of those out there who have served and also their families which endure enormous hardships along with the vet. Brothers and sisters in arms!

I remember. This one dropped (ouch) and I'd alreadyhad it for a little while.

Edited. Ok that wasn't funny, truth it wasn't meant to be, but on a second thought didn't need said.

Ok I did get a free oil change and a free dinner today. But after I worked 8 hours :D

But in all seriousness I don't ask for anything,
I have my family and more importantly I have my coins :)

I have been fortunate enough to travel to a number of sites from the world wars. Here are a few pictures in remembrance of those who gave so much.

That is just to awsome. I've been to just one of those places.
Sadly when I went to Hawaii we took a Mac from Monterey, Calif and I was younger and much more wild and all I had on my mind was, well it wasn't Pearl Harbor. To do it all over again I would've spent much of my time there.

My Grandmother lived on a farm in Lunenburg, Vermont during WWII. A few German prisoners of war from Camp Stark, New Hampshire (about 20 miles away) were allowed to work on her farm picking apples. They were guarded and supervised by United States soldiers. She said they were respectful and hard workers. The guards allowed her to serve the prisoners home baked apple pie and give them some baskets of apples from her huge orchard. Many friendships were formed between the guards and the prisoners and in 1986 there was a reunion in Stark, New Hampshire of the surviving American guards and ex-prisoners of war.

I'm a veteran, and have much respect for those who experienced combat or were subjected to tours in hostile environments. I've always been a bit bashful about claiming my veteran status on Veterans Day because I never was subjected to the horrors so many others were. I joined in 1990 and half of our division was deployed to the gulf for Desert Storm I tried to go, wanted to go, but I was bound for 12 hour duty days doing roving patrols around the garrison in Baumholder Germany. The troops returned and everything got back to normal. Left active duty in 1994, but stayed in the Army reserves until late 2000. Soon after my reserve unit deployed to Afghanistan. As I get older I realize the luck that I had in having been spared the miseries that so many of my brothers endured. Thank you all each and every one.

@dadams all that matters is you served voluntary or not (there once was the draft).
You took the time to serve, one doesn't know when and where a conflict will happen.
    Trust me brother you'r lucky.

I've seen it bad and I've seen it good in regards to the treatment of veterans. I prefer it good. I've accepted free stuff in the past but stay home these days. I have caught civilian posers at those functions and it was hard not to call them out publicly and cause a scene. I told myself they must desperately need a free meal but I doubt that was the case based on what they were wearing and the phones they had. Golden Corral spends tens of thousands of dollars at each outlet every year. There are many others and websites to tell us where to go. I would love it if the people would defend the modern vets and protect them from those who would misuse them and squander their sacrifices. Any more and I would violate the no politics rules. Thanks to all who appreciate the vets and their sacrifices.
