It's a good day when one of these large bronze coins from Syria makes it's way into my hands. I'm not certain I have the reference correct - RPC 2009: I do like these Antioch/Seleucia and Pieria large bronze, this Trajan is from @Justin Lee one of my top-10's from last year - is it time to plan for 2022's list?: I would like to add the other Nerva-Antonine dynasty eventually but I have a hard time finding them in this sort of condition. I'd love to see your Syrians (even if they're minted in Rome!).
Some great new additions…I love big bronzes from Antioch. Very nice portraits on both of your coins, and great centering on the Vespasian with a full clear obverse legend. I was happy to see your link to the RPC “plate” coin, because that is actually my coin! Here’s my photo of the coin, definitely one of my favorite portraits in my collection. Vespasian, Antioch, 'Dupondius' (AE, 26 mm, 15.71 g). Laureate head of Vespasian to left./ Rev. Large S C within laurel wreath. McAlee 362b, RPC II 2009 (this coin illustrated). And a couple more bronzes from Antioch: Nerva, Antioch, circa 96-98, AE “As” (25.5mm., 14.34g). Laureate head right/ Rev. Large S C; below, Θ ; all within wreath Antioch. Domitian, as Caesar, 69-81. AE 'Semis' (Bronze, 21 mm, 7.26g), DOMITI[ANVS CAE]SAR Laureate head of Domitian to left. Rev. Large S•C within wreath. McAlee 403e. RPC II 2017
