Thank you, no, it was struck during the reign of Antoninus Pius, Hadrian was already dead for 15-16 years when this coin was minted in Rome in either 153 or 154. You can buy one directly from your favourite Dutch seller: https://www.ma-shops.com/henzen/item.php?id=76960
I saw that one. I am waiting for a MS ex. Roma sold a FDC one for 5K UK pounds. Right now I have to be carefull to save up $$$$. Spent waaaaaaaaaay to much in last 16 months. I am now in "poorhouse" Its still snowing here, so I am still at home/ not making any money
The only Aureus I plan to acquire if I manage to find it somewhere in good condition or better and with a sane price is this one: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces259891.html I had also wanted to acquire an Aureus of Diocletian, since he is one of the Roman Emperors born in what is now Croatia (the other two are Valentinian and his brother Valens), his palace in Split still exists (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diocletian's_Palace), but even the cheapest one in good/acceptable condition costs at least 10000 EUR, which is way above what I would be willing to pay for it.
I know, that is the one you payed the most money for, it would be nice if I could find one for sale in good condition for something like 5000 EUR, it would also be nice if it was from the Siscia mint, both because Siscia (called Sisak today) is located in Croatia and because that is the area my mother's side of the family is originally from.
Not anymore! The AV Demi Noble/ Brabant was 14.5K euros/ the Vespsian AV Aureus 17.5K! However back in 2005 10K US+10% fees=11K now with inflation 25KUS I have one AV Solidus Constantius II (Western Roman Empire) from Siscia Mint/ FDC/ two exs known Depeyrot/ states in book. Now off to work to try to add $$$ to coin budget for Sincona event.
The best Roman gold coin from the Siscia mint that I can find for direct sale is this one: https://www.ma-shops.com/drijver/item.php?id=1286
There are several coins that might be of interest to you here: https://auctions.thecoincabinet.com...term=0_-391b9321e8-[LIST_EMAIL_ID]#?view=grid
I am not sure yet. There are a lot of nice ones/ just never enough $$$$ I usually try to bid on ones I like where there is no interest from other bidders. I won a MS-62 Ashrafi (unlisted) Shiraz Mint/ Sultan Husayn/ Safavids for $800US (Heritage weekly auction) Sometimes you are lucky Sometimes auction house make mistake in listing/ this happened in Naumann event/ ended up getting RRRR coin for 450E. This was my first Roman gold coin (Western Roman Empire)
Nice. I have put in pre-bids on the following coins: https://auktionen.sincona.com/en-us/auctions/lots/170079?$goto=170079&auc_id=201 https://auktionen.sincona.com/en-us/auctions/lots/170157?$goto=170157&auc_id=201 https://auktionen.sincona.com/en-us/auctions/lots/171106?$goto=171106&auc_id=201 (the highest pre-bid isn't mine, so I will have to have luck with the coins that are on earlier in order to win it) https://auktionen.sincona.com/en-us/auctions/lots/171108?$goto=171108&auc_id=201 And depending on how things go with the above coins I might also put in bids for the following coins: https://auktionen.sincona.com/en-us/auctions/lots/170148?$goto=170148&auc_id=201 https://auktionen.sincona.com/en-us/auctions/lots/171129?$goto=171129&auc_id=201
