http://www.stuff.co.nz/science/8838910/Silver-the-antibiotic Saw this posted on Coinflation. I wish they would post more articles like this and fewer from pm salesmen. I thought it was an excellent article on a great potential life saving use.
My son told me about this awhile ago. Maybe we'll start using the sterling on a daily basis, couldn't hurt.
Silver has long been known for its properties to kill bacteria. However, this is a pretty definitive study that hopefully will pave the way for more intense medicinal use in conjunction with antibiotics. It sounds very impressive. We need it, as resistances are becoming very serious.
The worst that could happen is we'll be known as "Blue Bloods". Wonder if that's too much silver in your system?
I purchased a pair of 9" British Berkefeld Ceramic Water Filter Element (.9 microns) that are silver impregnated to inhibit growth and reduce harmful bacteria by a rate > 99.99% (E. Coli, Cholera, Shigella, Salmonella, Klebsiella, etc). Still need to install these into a food grade water bucket. I wonder how much silver is required to be effective.
That is the part of the article I was "ah, I don't know about that". I happen to know that the term "blue bloods" goes back as far as Byzantium. There were major parties denoted by colors in ancient Byzantium and the Blues were the dominant rich party, while the Greens were the dominant "people's party". Europeans were well aware of this fact in late medieval times, and "blue bloods" probably sprang from that fact. Could be from both facts, I am not sure, its just this was the one part of the article that gave me pause.
