Agreed. You’re always a class act and I don’t think it could happen to a more deserving member. Congrats
Y'all know actually my grandfather use to collect. I was a baby when he past away so I didn't have the ability at the time to remember him. He was a alcoholic, that's what took his life but he owned his own butcher shop. My mom told me he had so much coins collected. He loved to collect Indian Head cents. He had Morgan's half dollars. It was a lot! She said. It got stolen though. My mom told me he showed someone his collection in the attic of his apartment. He shouldn't of put it there. The attic of the apartments anybody could go up there. The guy he showed lived in the same apartments went in the attic the same day. and took them. All of it. So that's the story I was told. But my grandma had a few coins collected. I asked mom. What if these coins that grandma had was from his? She said probably. I kept his collection on. I know he would be so proud of what I have now.
This sort of reminds me of two coins given to me by my Uncle William ,my mom's brother. Both are just Lincoln cents. One is a 1943 zinc that was copper plated, the other a 1965 with Kennedy etched into the fields facing Lincoln. As I posted in another area on the form my Roots thread... About my great great uncle . Anyway my uncle Bill or as we called him uncle brother as all his sisters called him "brother" not William or Bill...was a collector. He gave me the 2 cents back in 1965 ,I was a YN ,and I have kept the 2 cents in their 2x2 ,s he had put them in. Since they came from my favorite uncle I have had them what 53 years now? Well maybe it's time I pass them on to my second cousin Melissa. We burried her dad in late October, and she truly didn't know her grandfather as he died in 1967. Long before she had any memories of him. That way should anything happen to me they will stay within the family. Yeah not worth alot of money but to me they are priceless! As I wouldn't be here today if not for him sharing his hobby with me as a child.
Little late to the party but that is one heck of an addition to any collection. That was very nice of the person that sent them, congratulations.
