I have had this penny in my collection for over 10 years.

And recently i started getting back into coins. I ended the collecting of coins after i acquired this one, and a few bicentennial half dollar and silver dollar.

And many others. No not "Big Money" was spent to get it. I just managed to come across it.

No mint symbol (p/d , etc)

And as far as im concerned they didn't make pennies like this other then steel back in 1943-1944.

And this is definitely not steel.

What I'm posting this about is,

    ~How can I prove aluminum properties ?
    ~ Worth
~Who I can contact to find out more
~And what I should do with it in the mean-time.

It's very simple! Aluminum doesn't look like copper, and copper is heavier than aluminum.

What you should do in the meantime is post some photos for us.

Can you weigh it? That can rule out a lot. If aluminum, it should be way lighter than normal.

I'm finding a device currently that can take a photo of it. And to who it may concern , I'm going to get it weighed , hopefully the jewler by me is still open, but i already used more mediocre ways to determine the weight , i had a regular 1974 penny (no worth just was laying in my coin pot) and compared it in many simple ways to the "Bright Silver Colored 1973 Penny" , and couldn't really prove anything because I can't determine weight.

More than likely, it was probably dipped in mercury. A lot of kids did this in the 60's & 70's.

I thought of that too , but I myself have done this experiment many years ago in science , and the penny that i did that too is not in any way similar to how this penny looks.

Is there any bumps or breaks in the die such as a blister?

    *news*

Just took a trip down to the local jewelry / pawn shop.

The weight displayed was 1.9 g , and everyone in the store gave me a look and silence , as i was walking out i over heard a voice , and to my pleasure reassured me.
