I'm still curious. Then why shouldn't we let it dry on the coin is it protects and does no harm? Why do the directions say don't do that? Is it some legal protection for like don't take a bath with your hair dryer? PS The phrase "ignorance is bliss" applies to any members in this thread who get upset due to their being uninformed about what's actually going on in this country and around the world that will greatly affect our hobby! Have you tried to buy 10c size 2x2's lately?
When I bought my bottle 2years ago (?) to try, I remember the directions said not to let the product dry on the coin. Have you change its composition? I won't tell.
The directions I quoted above are from 2014. You are confused. The only time you DON'T want it to evaporate is during use, not during the drying phase. Losing water DURING conservation alters the product concentration and is not recommended. The ingredients are balanced and optimized for the product as sold. Any change in the product may not produce the desired results.
Good news! We completed formulation of the first batch of VC! We are now moving to the bottling process. We expect to ship the first bottles to Wizard Coin Supply next week. Thanks to everyone for being patient, this took much longer than we ever anticipated.
Just ordered some from Wizard. I've got a couple of copper coins I have previously tried to stabilize with sodium carbonate soaks. I did not apply any benzotriazole after the soaks. Any thoughts on whether the previous soaks will affect anything?
All the before/after examples of Verdicare use I've seen are on modern(ish) coins where their is either a *very* thin layer of verdigris covering the entire coin, and/or very small spots of only sightly thicker verdigris... I'm curious how effective it is on the significantly heavier verdigris deposits/build-up that can be found on some ancient (roman) bronzes such as this one of mine. Would this be a candidate for Verdicare usage? If so, what kind of results could I expect? Does anyone have any before/after photos of Vedicare used on roman bronzes?
These are some examples what the maker of Verdi-Care has had to say about heavy verdigris in the past. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1877-ihc-green-death-but-nice-grade.389449/#post-8061388 https://www.cointalk.com/threads/do...e-what-about-mineral-oil.271494/#post-2287893 https://www.cointalk.com/threads/verdi-care-question.250534/#post-1973439
