I was taught a long time ago that you always write the full name of the acronym followed by it in parathesis prior to using it by itself. Of course, that was a long time ago. I think that some acronyms have now become words. I've used i.e., e.g., and p.s. so long that I forget what they mean. Sometimes, I don't really want to know the real definition by its use in the sentence such as FOAD. I'm getting so use to Google, that I just check on it to get the meaning if I really want to know.
I laughed at the post, I had a time trying to explain to my wife why I was laughing, she just doesn't get it. HOTN
One of my favorite to tell folks that I have a good repor with if they have some thing that is of no "real" value that it's value is AWS . Ain't worth ............
I know what you mean. A pet peeve of mine is cliches and tired and hackneyed phrases that people use rather than explain in rational terms the rudiments of the subject. I sometimes have trouble getting along with religions and 12 step groups, for how they can be too mechanical in thinking and dogmatic.
