machines do not take half dollars. i wish they did though. so the coke machine kept your money? try both soda and snack machines. also, don't even bother with dimes or quarters, just try nickels. nickels will be the best coins to find something old in a machine like that.

Put 10 bucks in a stamp machine, bought 0.80 cents worth of stamps and got dollars back. Found a 1999 susan b. The rest were sac's and '79's. No presidents.

its still going to take awhile yet for those machines to get the new dollars.

Although this is not from a vending machine, i got in change today a 1947 nickel, i new i shouldn't give exact change for a reason!

i NEVER give exact change. one time i bought a soda with a $20 bill, got some change and got a 1995 old style $5 bill back.

Nice Ryan! What is the condition? Have you found anything else Coinlover? It is neat to do things like that. Always interesting to find stuff.

I used to work as a security guard years ago and during my tours of the facility I'd go into the break area in the office and look in their change box they had there for their coffee pot and I've found a few silver Roosevelts and a silver Jefferson war nickel. I dont remember the dates. I never tried the vending machine thing.

    3. 2001 $1 bill. serial number 08310863*

I've used this method for several years to get counterstanoed coins into circulation. Put it in, hit return, and get a new coin back. I take that coin home and stamp it, then do it all over again.

stamp=countertstamp. Stamping a message into the coin to amuse, inspire, or annoy people who get the coin down the line.

He uses single letter & number punches - place the punch on the coin, hit it with a hammer - all done. You can buy them in any hardware store.

True. But, I have also moved up to having single punch stamps made - one punch with the word or words in one stamp. My initials, for example are all on one custom made stamp. This is a step up and starts to cost money - my initials stamp cost about $35-40, but I have paid $80 for another stamp that was larger with two words.
