Not sure if this one was a junk bin find, but I must have bought it unpackaged. I was looking up the details on this one to write on a card, and I hadn't realized that the mintages on these wartime Vatican coins were so tiny. 1942 is the "common" year with only 5000 minted. For the rest of the series (1943-1946) they minted 1000 per year. No idea what I paid for it, but it can't have been much. Many of the postwar Vatican coins had mintages in the millions, so I'll have to watch out for wartime ones.
Always satisfying when you re-discover one like that in your own collection. It's like getting a 2 for 1.
Nice "message" on the coin. New land has been found. There is hope for the future. All of this on a coin from the middle of the War, 1942. thanks
