I really wanted to make a different thread and read up a bit before posting this guy.

 

Google Books is great, but it doesn't allow you to directly download pages from books that have a limited preview. But there are some tricks and hence I downloaded a few pages a while ago . I have been meaning to grab Sharma's book, but was not successful in finding it, however I really didn't try hard . You must download Rapson if you want to do anything serious with Satavahana, even though some attributions have changed since its publication.

The coin you posted is an overstruck coin of Nahapana after his defeat by the hands of the Satavahana. It has been counterstamped with their symbols. There are several versions of that coin, some are quite difficult to find while others are relatively easy. Here is the original Nahapana coin and an overstruck one in my collection:

Western Kshatrapas: Nahapana (ca. 100 CE) AR Trilingual drachm (Fishman-3.xx)

Obv: Bust of Nahapana facing right with collar showing, wearing a satrapal cap, Greek inscription around: ΡΑΝΝΙW ΣΑΗΑΡΑΤΑC ΝΑΗΑΡΑΝΑC
Rev: Arrow pointing down to the left, thunderbolt to the right, dot between them; two inscriptions - on in Brahmi (Rajno KsaHaRaTaSa NaHaPaNaSa) and one in Kharoshti (RaNo KsaHaRaTaSa NaHaPaNaSa)




Satavahanas: Gautamiputra Satakarni overstruck on Nahapana (c. 78–102 AD) AR drachm (Pieper-682)

Obv: Three-arched hill, wavy line below, Brahmi legend around reading [Rano Gotamiputasa] Siri Satakanisa, overstruck sihouette of Nahapana's bust
Rev: Satavahana symbol; traces of Nahapana's legend and arround & thunderbolt design

I looked for a longtime for an OS Nahapana to compliment my regular one.

 

That is a very nice one with good legends! Very crisp. There are tons of different varieties with this coin as the arrows are different as well as the corrupt Greek legends. You can have a field day with it. I never spent the time to properly identify mine coin even though I have fisher...

It is somewhat harder to find here in the US, unfortunately. That applies to most of these types of coins

 

I have Alex Fishman's WS Silver coinage book that covers Nahapana's dynasty.

I'm working on one right now, I'm quite sure it's a fake. I love these bits and pieces especially the issues of Soter Megus et al. Too many coins, too little time.
