I agree with rzage one hundred percent. Learning all the time around here and the folks are great! May I add that we can enjoy and learn from this great forum due to the time and energy that Peter and the moderators put in for us.

I think that was an off colour remark. :D

The guys and gals on this site are the greatest. You've got some of the most knowledgeable and friendly folks residing in this forum so you folks that are hiding behind the curtain (sorry Peter) come out and introduce yourselves and join the community...:D

I've only been a member for a few months, but I am continually impressed by the courtesy and helpfulness of the Cointalk community.

Mr Coin Lover- I remember that post and the 1970 S small date and it was one of the most helpful informative posts I have read on anything. I can't remember who gave all the info, but it's so nice people take the time to explain things they may know like the back of their hand. This site has helped me as well, immensely

I feel very sorry now I didn't write down who that member was. I also was directed to a site that had photos of all the San Francisco mint "S" strike variations. Both of these sites I did add to my favorites and they have been very helpful to me.

I agree with the sentiment shared above. I've learned so much since I dropped into CoinTalk that it's made my hobby more enjoyable. I'm always learning something here. Besides I love to see the photos of all the coins we show. Plus the people are great.

Thanks . . . and I'd like to make an offer

I'm not fond of writing messages that simply say "me too", but, ummm . . . me too, to everything that's said. I learned more in one month here than in my first 10 years of collecting.

And whereas I used to think I knew a few things about coins, now I know enough to know that I hardly know anything!

And my eternal gratitude to whoever it was that told me about the US Mint outlets here in DC, both within walking distance of my work.

And, to that end, I'd like to make an offer (if I don't get inundated) to any "registered" "regular" here.

My offer is that if anyone needs to get anything from the Mint store, I'd happily get it for you at cost (cost+postage) and send it to you. This includes most things that are on the US Mint site.

But also one more item: the current "dollar" coin (e.g. right now Hariisons, starting May 21, Tylers, etc.), and current release quarter (e.g., right now Puerto Rico, and starting May 26, Guam) are also available from the Mint site from a change machine. These coins are mostly AU+/MS (with bag-like marks). So I can also get them for you at face value (plus p&h).

I offer this because I've gotten so much out of CT and the people here, and I'd like to return the favor.

(Update: unfortunately, they do not carry the Lincoln cent mint rolls)

sholom: Your offer is just another example of the quality of the people that i have come across here, since coming to cointalk. Likewise, the information one can derive here by just reading the threads are great. That coupled with the reading and reserch i am doing on my own provides me with real world experience to compare to book stuff to. I am rather new to coin collecting. Some here have likely seen me say this already. I am using coin collecting as part of my therapy thru the va medical center. I am trying to deal with a tramatic brain injury(tbi),etc. I signed up here at cointalk to have a place to go and mostly read and occasionally post. I have been doing alot of research and reading( thats on the days that what i read makes sense). This site along with the people and some of the adivce given here(i don't asked about investment stuff--it's not my objective) has done alot to help me with re-developing some my cognitive abilities/skills. At the risk of repeating myself even more, i just want to thank everyone who participates and makes this forum possible. With graditude, larry j pitre
