I have been collecting about 10 years and am into modern coins and love variety cents. My dad got me into collecting when the '95 doubled die cent was found. Well my dad was into errors and also put away alot of modern mint sealed stuff. proof & mint sets, state quarter bags & rolls for that matter nickel half and dollar rolls& bags mint sealed. What he did mostly was buy from the mint let a couple years pass and list it on e-bay. He caught a couple real fliers but said if he held stuff 1 year he consistantly averagerd 25-30%. Anyway he passed last month and my mom knows nothing about coins. I listed some stuff on e-bay but the prices I see listed for some of I posted seem crazy. Like the Sac. die adj. strike. I see it's twin sister lister on a highly respected error specialist's site for $995. I'm not sure if prices like that are reasonable or not. I do plan on selling them along with other stuff and would like to get fair value. I do not want to gauge anyone but at the same time I don't want to list something at a dollar and have it sell for 2 because it was an off week at the bay.

I laugh when I see e-bay sales that say " I can't grade" , "estate sale", "inhereitence" but I guess I am in a similar position because I do not know errors and of course I can do a completed auction search and get the past 2 weeks prices or look in inventories and get opinions that way which are a snapshot at best and can be off the wall. Speaking to knoweledgable specialists and collectors I think is a better way to go. Isn't that why there are forums? Thank you Joe
