Valuable 1982 pennies ?!?

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Nick Chiappetta, Apr 16, 2019.

  1. I have quite a few of these but i am having a hard time distinguishing the little dates from the big dates. Here are a few that I have looked to see if the twos in the date have a thinner base with a curve......but Idk. Are any of these pictured the famous "little date 1982" Any info would be great !! Maybe a value if possible. Thanks to all

I don't collect pennies. They give me headaches.

Based on the pictures @cpm9ball posted, what would your opinion be on your 4 coins?

The top left is a small date, the other three are all large

Weigh the top left one and tell us what it weighs.

  12. Ok that's awesome. Thank you . I was just posting my next question. Is there a way to know without a scale. I am relatively new to this although I've had my coins a while now

If it weighs the same as a pre-82 cent then it's copper and weighs ~3.1 gm.

If it weighs the same as a post-82 cent, then it is copper coated zinc and weighs ~2.5 gm.

Use a simple balance to compare the coins.
