Any insight if this is a Valentinian III coin or a Vandal Campgate imitation? It looks similar to the one here: Valentinian III campgate ROMA | Coin Talk but the lettering seems suspect. It is 12.7 mm and 1.66g.
It looks official. These small Val III bronzes always look fairly crude. For comparison, here are three examples that I sold-- and my CAST VIC example Valentinian III A.D. 425-455 10x11mm 1.2gm [D N VALEN AVG]; pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. [CAST] VIC; camp-gate with no doors and two turrets, star above. RIC X Rome 2163
I agree with @Victor_Clark . It is an official Valentinian III. Here is mine: 13 mm. 1.59 grams. DN VALENTINIANV[S PF AVG] VOT PVB, city gate with E above Mintmark very weak, maybe RPM (?) RIC X 2135 has no mm. RIC X 2123. Sear V 21326 ff.
