Well because we all thought they were ugly and there were lots of them to be found.</p><p><br /></p><p>In reality, there are several issues in this series of which less than 3 million coins remain.&nbsp; There are several series of which less than one-half million specimens exist in un-circulated condition&nbsp; It is fair to assume that circulated specimens will not ever have a tremendous value but, compare this relative rarity to say the 1926S or 1931S dime to get an idea of the potential value of high quality un-circulated specimens.</p><p><br /></p><p>Demand at this time is low and good rolls can still be found but it is getting harder and the price is starting to go up.&nbsp; The price of silver helps with this but it will also cause more to be melted before the actual rarity is known.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
