Got my order for the 2019 Proof Set and the Proof ASE. As the title suggests, I am less than impressed. The box was shoddily taped up so I was a bit worried about the coins inside. They weren't packed in anything. Just loose in the box and the 2019-W Cent's plastic was all crumpled up. Not to mention the "scuff" or whatever it is on the obverse. Good thing I am only buying this year's set for my new baby due this year.
I haven't ordered anything directly from them since my daughter was born in 2016. I gotta say, not impressed at all.
Yeah, I'd be tempted to do a "send me a prepaid shipping label for an exchange" on that one. (The Mint will pay for return shipping if you can convince them there was a problem with the item you received. This seems like a pretty clear case.)
Years ago I bought a $5 gold commemorative coin. When I got the coin was outside of the capsule and wondering around in the velvet lined box. Fortunately the coin was not damaged or hairlined, but that was just luck. Sometimes the mint’s “fulfillment center” is not very fulfilling.
Does anyone remember when you could buy one each of everything the Mint had to offer for about $5K, and ten years later, that amount rose to more than $20K. Chris
Yes, I used to keep up with the modern commemorative coins, but my checkbook got tired of that. Now some dealers are saying that stuff is only with the melt price or a little less. Some the coins are very attractive, but the number of coins sold outstrips the demand. The over abundance of commemorative coins is as bad now as it was in the old days when they issued Oregon Trail half dollars and other coins for no reason, other than greed, year after year.
I cant say that I do...I'm not nearly as old as you guys. Either way, that is quite the price increase. Not to mention, their QC and selection is kind of garbage. Not quite to the RCM yet though thankfully.
Plastic Capsule/Plastic Bag Potato/Potatoe At least it came with a free envelope to put your 2019-W pennies in lol.
