Bust half fever is a real thing. One starts out with a single coin for type. Then, hey, a year set is doable. Then it's how about a Red Book set? From there, it's a long slow dive into Overton die marriages. But it's also a lot of fun!!!
I like some other series, but lately none of them hold my interest like bust halves. I definitely see a lot of hours looking online and going to coin shops and shows looking for Overton varieties in my future.
I like the 1811 most, cause of the color and the interesting die crack. @micbraun : What's your opinion?
I think the 1808 is my favorite. If I am not mistaken, it’s an O-102a and a late die state coin. The 1806 draped bust half is a close second, but madame looks really pale on the picture... different times I guess
View attachment 896358 View attachment 896361 I like both coins as well. (Well, duh, I bought them.) The 1811 is O-104a and yes, the 1808 is 102a and one of my favorites as well. Now to continue the series...
How common are rotated dies in that series? I recently bought an 1814 and when i got it i found the reverse is rotated, not quite 90°, something like 75-ish by my estimate.
Not uncommon---especially on pre-1825 or so. The retaining screw on the hammer die seems to have often worn out allowing the die to rotate. Useless trivia insertion... On bust halves it is actually the obverse which is rotated not the reverse as the obverse was the hammer die. This is also why double profiles appear on the obverse rather than the reverse as the worn screws could allow a loose die to bounce or skip.
Great coins! I appreciate your sharing of them. Do you have halfs up to the present day? How about proofs - do you have some of them as well? Looking forward to more.

When I lived in south central Oklahoma I wish I had the mineral rights under my 100 acres. It shure would have helped with the scope of my coin collection.
