US 1943 penny, struck on silver 10c planchet

    Would this count as an .11 cent piece?

    How would you spot one in a group of steel cents? It would be slightly smaller, weak or partially missing rims, most likely part of the lettering running off the edge of the coin. Or if you have a magnet, it will be the one that it doesn't pick up.

    Only if it is a cent struck on an already struck dime, in which case you will see some of the dime design and the edge WILL be reeded.

    I guess a magnet would work. But only individually. Steelies have a strong enough attraction though that if you wave it over a pile, the one that doesn't stick can be pulled in with the others. I have gotten my hopes up with coppers trapped between several steels that way. Thanks for the insight guys.

    Once I am worm food if my son will sell our family's collection.That been handed down since 1873-20??:eek:
    Someone may see a MS-64+ silver steel cent?

    It would be a good idea to check them with a magnet , silver won't stick to a magnet
