US $1 Pattern that never saw production?

I came across this coin design on the internet for a $1 president coin (Van Buren), and noticed how the reverse (or obverse?) design was that of a seated liberty. Obviously the real one is of the statue of liberty. Was this a proposed design that was struck (or only designed), and later rejected for the current design?

I personally like this design much better than the Statue of Liberty one we have now.

    Thanks in advance!

I don't know but I'd sure like to see that design on our coins instead of what we have.

The Seated liberty was part of the First Spouse medal/gold coin program.

Oh nice! I wish they put it on a coin and not a medal.

It does look very different though... no W mint mark, no "IN GOD WE TRUST", etc.

The overall design is great, but that face needs/needed more attention. Wow, one ugly dude in that gown.
