For an operation that serious, it's a blessing he made it off the table.

Good news indeed. The most important predictor of a favorable outcome in carotid endarterectomy is the track record of the surgeon and the quality of care in the hospital.

Thank you for the update!. I personally don't know the man except on this forum but that's good enough for me! I'll send my prayers.

I had a test a few years back on the carotid artery as my doctor at the time thought I may have had a stroke myself. Serious stuff!! I hope everything turns out alright. I remember the guy so I will pray for him. thx again for the update!

He hasn't posted yet?! I'd have demanded my laptop as soon as I found out I wouldn't be leaving the hospital for a few days. :p

Hope the recovery goes well, Chris.

Geez, I may not have have even found this thread if it wasn't for the "Welcome back!" I got from Duke in another thread.

Thanks to all for your well-wishes and your prayers!

    Mike,
I don't have a laptop, but the hospital wasn't equipped with wireless internet access anyway.

    Tom,
Yes, I told Shane that he was welcome to post whatever he wanted, and I kept him updated daily. Thanks for the concern.

    ksparrow,
The hospital has an excellent record, but I didn't know too much about the surgeon. He is from India and his name is Penukonda. However, the staff got a big kick out of it when I nicknamed him Pina Colada.

    Thanks again,

    Chris

    Kanga,

How old is your friend? If I were your friend, I would be looking for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th opinion. It's not a matter of time. It will happen!
