where are the copper and lead bugs? : Copper (JJC) is +131%; lead is (LD), +124%; steel (SLX) is +115%; nickel is +57%; and aluminum (JJU), is +36%. from this article http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/top-stocks/blog.aspx?post=1512664&_blg=1,1512664
that's is why the gold will never bubble. because gold never go up to that kind of % jump or up to over $2,000.00 an ounce. the metal mentioned were also good for coin collectors. because many of the current circulation coins were made of those. i need to know the last year closing and this year closing of those metals. and also they forget the zinc and manganese.
i did see menu for modern commemorative and annual mint sets at the apmex website. and if so. there were empty or very few coin available. don't know the reasons. maybe stop buying those. maybe no body like to sell at this boom time. you know why?.
Elaine: As for the 'annual mint sets' and anything else numismatic being sold on Apmex, their collectible coins and non-bullion items are being phased out entirely. They had a reduced price sale for the past couple months to liquidate inventory as they will no longer carry numismatic items in order to focus more on bullion items. Where exactly they draw the line between what it bullion or collectible if those collectibles happen to be Proof eagles containing precious metals is unclear as many of those item remain in the bullion section.
there is no 2010 $5.00 gold commemorative. if there is. then the price most likely will be around $387.00 for unc and $393.00 for proof. if some one has a first early issue of u.s. mint price grid. then it will show modern commemorative prices. then we can have an accurate price estimate. uncirculated $5.00 gold. 24187 oz. date-------commemorative---- mintage--- pre-issue---regular price 1986w-- sta. of liberty--- 95,248--- 160.00-- 165.00 1987w-- constitution----- 214,225--- 195.00-- 215.00 1988w-- seoul olympic--- 62,913--- 200.00-- 225.00 1989w-- congress-------- 46,899--- 185.00-- 200.00 1991w-- mt rushmore--- 31,959--- 185.00-- 210.00 1992w-- columbus------- 24,329--- 180.00-- 210.00 1992w-- barcelona------ 27,732--- 185.00-- 215.00 1993w-- bill of rights--- 22,266--- 175.00-- 205.00 1993w-- world war II--- 23,089--- 170.00-- 200.00 1994w-- world cup------ 22,464--- 170.00-- 200.00 1995w-- civil war------- 12,735--- 180.00-- 190.00 1995w-- torch runner--- 14,675--- 229.00-- 249.00 1995w-- stadium------- 10,579--- 229.00-- 249.00 1996w-- cauldron------- 9,210--- 229.00-- 249.00 1996w-- flag bearer---- 9,174--- 229.00-- 249.00 1996w-- smithsonian--- 9,068 --- 180.00-- 205.00 1997w-- f. roosevelt --- 11,694-- 180.00-- 205.00 1997w-- j. robinson----- 5,202 --- 180.00-- 205.00 1999w-- washington--- 22,511-- 180.00-- 205.00 2001w-- capitol visitor- 6,761--- 180.00-- 205.00 2002w-- salt lake------- 10,585--- 180.00-- 205.00 2006..-- san francisco-- 10,500--- 220.00-- 245.00 2007w-- jamestown---- 12,000--- 220.00-- 245.00 2008w-- bald eagle--- 15,133--- 284.95-- 309.95 total---------------------- 730,951
A great list! I was hoping there would be an announcement for a small gold commem issue coin from the Mint, maybe they will still announce something later in the coming year.
I think they have to be treated separately - the satins are a distinct variety, more like a matte proof.

Ok, so how many do you project for the entire year, 2010? +/- from 2009? I'll go with ASE: 31.5 million/oz. and AGE: 850,000/oz. (the $50 / 1.oz.) bullion only, not proofs.
Looks like that 2008 Gold Buffalo "Celebration" coin that I bought just might be one of the lower mintage numbers in the 1 oz. Gold Buffalo series. This is the 1 oz. unc. coin that came in the red box. I almost sent the coin back to the mint when it came in because I didn't like it. My gut told me to keep it.
to krispy my dear. my estimate for 2010 bullion AGE and ASE will be much lesser than last year 2009. unless the gold keep steady up and up. all current daily use denomination should pick up except dollar. 2010 is the first year issue for america the beautiful quarters and also the changes in the cent reverse. you also get nice modern commemorative dollar design. the nice 2010 sacagawea reverse design. and hopefully the mint will issue 2010 ASE proof and four denomination of AGE proof. and the 2010 bullion AGE fractional. forget about the w mint mark uncirculated AGE and ASE. that's o.k for me.
Elaine: The reason I set my guessed 2010 ASE/AGE 1 oz. mintage figures so high is because I feel that gold prices will continue on a steady movement up through 2010 and demand for bullion ASE and AGE will remain heay, but more people will move to silver as gold will move out of many individual investors and collectors budgets. Instead these people may move more towards silver and bump up demand for silver and so the price of silver could go higher. I'd guess silver can touch $25/oz. by end of Q1 if these factors play out. That is also the time (April) when the first America the Beautiful 5oz coins will go on sale. So 5 oz @ $25 plus packaging and promotions costs might set the AtBQ coin at $155 - $175 retail price. Will the Mint implement a silver repricing grid/chart with the introduction of these larger/higher value coins sometime this year? I don't think the Mint has a PM pricing chart in force for silver products do they? Only for Gold and Platinum.
since dec. 31, 2009: as of this writing. gold up 4.4% silver up 6.4% platinum up 6.5% palladium up 8.2%
