you guys think that 112,000+for mintage of the UHR double eagle is high? or will they be worth far more as there is only a 1 year mintage?

I don't seem that way, I "hope" it will be worth more due to a one year issue, despite a high mintage. Also a lot of people don't like this coin due to its size and just relegate it to bullion, but it's so much more. The big fluffy box is nice but it doesn't do anything for the value of this coin for me.

One reason the DC's are going for more now is everyone's looking for the DDR's.

so do you think the Northern Mariana have the best chance to increase in value due to their lowest mintages?

northern mariana still have more than three months offering from the mint. i don't think it will go up. beside that. the mint announced the mintage in advange. the winner is the mint. not us. the key date will be the washington dc. that's it.

this is also apply to the presidential dollars. pre announcement of the mintage by the mint is not good for the collectors. the mint just want to sell more and make money. that is their tactic. and they made it this time.

the gold products will not go up or down this week. next week and so on. it will again depend on the average london gold price. the average price this week is $1,101.50 per ounce. to buy UHR double eagle on the last day. i rather buy 09 buffalo proof. for me actually. none of the above.

regarding my post on the maximum retail value of 08 fractional eagle and buffalo. recently or currently. ebay prices on the buffalo 1/4 oz up again.

    1/4 ounce unc AGB - mine $1,150.00, ebay $1,400.00
    1/4 ounce proof AGB - mine $1,200.00, eaby $1,500.00

in short, the collector's items do not and will not affected by the gold spot daily or minute fluctuation. it simply depend on collectors willing to buy it or not. and the supply and demand count. recently some of the big dealers advertised buying on 2008 eagle and buffalo. the bid prices are rather good or record high. but very very few pieces were sold by the collectors. not even more than 10 pcs.

final analysis. 2008w with very very few mintage on each denomination. will continue to go up and up. gold down over $100.00. but the 08 fractional will keep going up. cdn newsletter see some of the 08 fractional go up instead. specially the uncirculated one.

I am new here and I am not sure I understand you. Why would washington dc be the key date when the mintage was the highest of 2009? I was thinking that the low mintages will increase in value more like N. Mariana is the lowest for 2009. am I wrong?

    9Baller,
I am in agreement with you on the Wash.DC mintage being the highest and N.Mariana "P" mintmark being the lowest mintage quarter. What is so special about Wash. DC? It sounds like just supply and demand and I have bought the N.Mariana quarter. Someone please let me know if I am missing something.

key date is being controlled by big institutional investors and or big coin dealers. they are the one command the market. same thing with stock market. if you are only a small and new collector. and you knew this the rare one. so you buy it. then how those people who controlled the market. are they the one who going to lose money. think about it. so the first winner is the u.s. mint.
