because of world wide financial and housing trouble. this year 2009. people bought from u.s.mint some 1,004,000 pc of one ounce american eagle bullion gold coin. and some 21,359,500 pc of silver version. i don't think we the collectors bought those 2009 gold and silver bullion coins. we always look for rare, low mintage and key date. and/or collector's items in short. mostly buyers might came from institutional investors, gamblers, rich people around the world. and the mint should supply them via the big coin dealers. i got three pc of 2009 bullion one ounce am eagle silver. mainly free from Krause publication three subscriptions.

i got also 5 set. but the mint increase production on 2009 after i ordered. so 2008 is the winner. which i don't have. anyway. i love half dollars. i think you like it too. right?. i wish half dollar will have different design in the future.

 

Yes, I quite like half dollars and other large diameter coins. I don't buy or collect excessive amounts of anything but I do have some halves in my collection. I also placed my order for the 2009 halves right before they ramped up production on them but I didn't cancel the order since I like them. I really like the Kennedy design and that eagle on the reverse but I don't like what they have done with his hair in recent years. I would welcome new designs for the half, especially non-presidential portrait and non-park related (LOL), but at this point they'd only be one more collector product. However, I wouldn't likely collect new half dollar designs if that was all they were being produced for.

because those four sets were cancelled by the mint without any reasons. they were four different people order it. but the time is pass 2:15pm. mine is on hold at 2:05pm. why i order so late. because during the early hour. website is very busy. and i think i just pass this one. and concentrate on to the buffalo gold proof. around 2pm. website is clear. then i try mine. it work. i call my friends. but it's too late. it's o.k. to have one.

 

Yes, it is certainly fine to just get one and to stop at that or pass entirely on the sets... but you said in a previous post the sets were 'sold out' when they are not yet sold out. Others are still posting they got the orders in after yours went through and there's yet no reports of an inventory sell out in the first three hours of sales.

Also elaine, they canceled your other 4 pieces, if you tried to place an amount greater than one, which you knew was the household limit that was in place, announced prior to release day.
