check the figure yourself at usmint.gov a big dealer can buy huge volume from the u.s. mint. private individual can not buy any from the u.s. mint as far as bullion is concerned.
I do check the Mint site and I have read and understand the bullion dealer Mint relationship but I am baffled at the reporting of figures released and was hoping for some shared insight in that aspect. Thanks.

275,000 new ASEs in only two days since your last AGE/ASE report? I'm really very curious how they calculate and release these figures...

Krispy, why don't you ask someone at the mint ? Obviously Elaine doesn't have that information to give you.
...nor do you I suspect, so thanks for stating the obvious for us... this is indirectly my point about elaine posting figures if such nuances cannot be explained. I personally suspect that any Mint withholds their reasons for economic, supply and competitive business practices regarding how and when they release production figures so I don't need to waste my time in a phone tree trying to access the motives. If you are so interested in finding this out and choose to pursue the answers, then please let us know what your call yields. Regardless, the posting of updated mintage figures for use as a speculative tool on what to buy or not to buy hardly warrants the effort in maintaining posts across a myriad of threads, especially since figures are regularly published on mint websites and reported in other blogs (more coherently) published ahead of elaine's rush to post. Most mintage figures cannot even be relied upon for any precision until months or even years after and we must also always take into consideration survivability rates that effect the numbers in the near and distant future. Also, be very careful to double check the figures in elaine's posts since they are usually unreferenced sources and occasionally contain inaccuracies when being transcribed. :thumb:
Krispy, I prepared a lengthy rebuttal, but it was inadvertenly deleted. Let me just say that you make very valid points. However, this post alone has 44,552 views and 778 replies since 05/09/07...the folks at CT must have evaluted the numbers and think Elaine is doing something right. Perhaps you could ask her if she would let you co-author the mintage posts? You could help QA the numbers and we would all be in your debt...
