Hello, Has anyone come across one of these before or something similar. The closest I could find was described as a bridge crossing token but seems more like a medal or plaque. It is heavily worn but appears to be metal or lead? Text reads Let Glasgow Flourish around the cities coat of arms. The reverse is a seated female figure in a Grecian/Roman style. weight: 84g approx 5cm diameter. Photos Below. Any info would be helpful thanks.
Welcome to Coin Talk. It might be something produced for the 1901 Glasgow Exhibition. There appear to be several types of medals and medallions produced. The ones I have seen from online sources all have the "Let Glasgow Flourish" motto. There are are people on this forum more versed with these items. I am sure they will chime in with the correct ID.
I would say pewter it was inexpensive at the time and still is today. What is it's size and weight? That will tell you a lot. Interesting whatever it is. Welcome to CT
