A few years ago, a friend on another site undertook a large project. I haven't heard from him in quite some time, but here is the website that he started. I would imagine the newest entry is 3-4 years old. http://www.coinzoo.net/

Whoops! I was wrong! He must just have vacated the other website with which we both members. I see that he is still working on his "zoo" and things are up to date.

    Those Greeks: what an imagination!

Another set of Sphinxes from Coin Archives, popular with the Greeks, but especially associated with the island of Chios.

    Another from CoinArchives.com
Boy on Dolphin and Hippocamp from Taras (Tarentum). You can find many Hippocamps (hippokampus); they were popular.

The image posted was the obverse of a Conder token, Warwickshire 34, from the 1790's. This was a period of great civil unrest in Great Britain and France. There was fear of revolution in both counties but it occurred only in France.

So, the "animal" is a monstrous demon representing sedition.

Rated "scarce" by the Conder bible Dalton & Hamer, this token might come up for sale once or twice a year either
    in copper or white metal.
