Its the 2nd biggest coin scam out there. Just think about it, if you had a roll of Indian head pennies, maybe over 60 years in the same wrapping, passed down from your grandfather, would you look through it 1st? DUH! I love how these people dupe newbies. They purchase new old stock rolls, fill them up with wheats, put a Indian head on each end, crimp the roll, and use a little steel wool to make it look aged. I also like how the say "some customers have been finding silver dimes in there as well!" I did purchase a unsearched roll a while back that was supposedly 100% genuine, I knew it was a scam, but I wanted to see how they package them. These rolls were supposedly 30 years old, and I found a gem bu wheat penny that was bright as the sun in with the other wheats. If it was TRULY a unsearched roll, I think the coin would of toned with the rest.
I will buy an "unsearched" roll every now and then, only because they do typically have a good mix of dates. Sure I know I am not going to really find a 1909-s VDB, a 1914-d or a 1955 DD, but it does help fill in some of the spots in a newly started album. Plus they do salt them with some IHC's too. Greg
The way I see it, if you had a roll with Indian heads on the ends, or old silver dimes, would you sell it on ebay for ??? monies? No, you would open it.
