In fact, it very much sounds like it was a way for the seller to liquidate lesser material. Certain sellers have also been known to fill rolls only after bidding ends, ensuring the buyer receives coins more reasonably valued closer to the price paid while still leaving the seller ahead of the game. True original rolls are nowhere as common as such sellers on eBay would have buyers believe, and most that do remain are solid date/mint OBWs. Even old time collectors who rolled lesser coins rarely mixed them up to give such a &quot;variety&quot;, which is pretty much what unfamiliar modern buyers generally expect.
