Unpaid Item Case Opened on Ebay

I know fully well he is going to pay. I never denied or questioned that. I do however question the legitimacy of him paying when he has time which may take days.

Your free to believe what you want but until you address the circular fallacy I spotted your arguments lack justifiable grounds regardless of how many proverbs you use. If he has the time to browse through countless ebay coins and commit to purchase them I find it hard to believe it will take him days before he has "time" to pay

I don't understand how taking 20 seconds to pay for an item leads people to try to do to much. Secondly we aren't talking about businesses; this whole discussion is oriented towards private individuals engaged in a specialized hobby for their personal pleasure.

Regarding your first point. Of course not everyone has to abide by it. Thats why I stated "imo." There is always going to be margins of error on both sides. Every person does indeed have their own rule and of course it works for them; otherwise they wouldn't have it. The POINT is that it does not work for the seller

You say "the seller" like you speak for the vast majority. I believe you speak for the minority that may not be able to have realistic expectations for a global selling venue. My example of a member with greater than 15k positive transactions supports my belief that most sellers are fine with waiting as long as it is communicated. Regardless of who is wrong or right, sellers have the tools to manage the sale and payment. If they are unhappy they can block the buyer from future business.

I never read a post telling people they must pay in 5 minutes. I did read posts saying one should comply with expectations. To me it is really simple. If ebay opens a case after 48 hours they appear to be saying please pay within the 48 hour time frame.

While many ebay users pay immediately i don't think anyone expects the payment in 6 minutes.
When I sold a batch of coins 75% were paid in 5 minutes. I didn't get upset as a seller until one guy took 8 days then I opened a case. I guess the auto thing didn't work on my account.

If someone is too busy to pay inside 48 hours I simply think ebay might not be the best venue for them. I don't understand why people are offended when someone reminds them what the rules and expectations of a public auction site are.

Vic, I don't think anyone is upset. I just think there are various opinions of what is acceptable from either side of the equation. At the end of the day I think it's the responsibility of the seller and buyer to work out what works for them with tools that protect sellers from buyers that win and do not intend to pay within a reasonable amount of time. 48 hour waiting period with a 96 hour opportunity to pay feels very reasonable to me. The items I sell can be in the 200 to 500 range and that time frame is okay for me. Another week would also be okay if the buyer worked it out ahead of time. But that's just me.

It is NOT ebays policy that all payments must be made in 48 hours. If you think it is, you are wrong. ebay gives sellers the OPTION to have a claim filed after that time, but I believe that is a mistake for sellers. You want to do everything you can for your customers. Some stores have layaway, etc. Giving a little extra time is courteous, which is why I will never require payment within 2 days.

I just checked saved sellers I do business with on Ebay. Of the ones who stated a timeframe in which to make payments, two said within 3 days, two said within 7 days, three said within 14 days, and two said within 30 days. So please, everyone speak as to what "all sellers on Ebay expect".

I'm going to disagree with you about Heritage. They send their invoices out via e-mail the morning after the auction closes. If you won a coin on say day 1 of a 3 day auction, you won't receive the final invoice until the entire auction ends. I've had the same experience with Stack's. Now Legend, that's a different story.

We have people here handling millions of dollars but are buying $30 coins. They had plenty of time to search out this coin and bid on it yet short on time to pay. They also have lots of time to hang out on bulletin boards. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Nobody has such a full, busy life that they can't make 3 clicks.

There is a lot more to it than 3 clicks for a lot of people. I have to get on the computer, go to ebay to check if I won anything, record what I won, how much it was, etc, then pay. I simply cannot do this 20+ times per day. Deal with it.

Did you even read my comments on how I arrange for snipes like once a week? Believe it or not I am not on Ebay all of the time, not do I care to be. I explained, (repeatedly), if I click BIN I pay instantly. However, if I win a sniped auction I am not jumping out of my seat to rush to a computer to pay within five minutes. If you don't like it, then don't sell to me and people like me. Put a requirement that payment is required in five minutes of auction close in big letters and please just let me ignore your auctions. With millions of sellers of coins, I seriously do not want to give you my money.

Also, btw, I posted terms of many large sellers post on Ebay. Many didn't require payment for 2 weeks or even 30 days. Makes me paying within a day or two look like a pretty decent buyer. I must be, as many of them contact me off Ebay wishing to sell coins to me, as well as all of the catalogs I get from auction houses around the world.

There are also quite a number of people here who seem to have ample time available to post long comments but not enough time to pay in an orderly matter it seems

You seem quite able to browse ebay, locate a coin, figure out if it's a good deal, bid etc 20+ times a day

I tend to have respect for your posts. I don't understand why you continuously have to resort to fallacies and exaggerations here to appeal to edited like jwhitton even when I've called you out on it. With that said take your five minutes argument and continue to bang your head on a wall

Thanks for calling me an idiot in your next post.. really mature. Your inability to understand why it makes more sense to pay once per day instead of 20+ explains why you must not understand that I bid on all of that days auctions at once too, instead of 20+ times individually.

I know for a FACT you spend 10x more time browsing than it would for you to pay all those auctions rule violation; there's no way you would have to do it 20x a day because there's no way all auctions end on the same day. Nor do you win them all

I do believe personal attacks and cussing are not allowed. You might want to try calming down a bit

Atta Boy Witten; nothing to respond to my prior comment so you shift the conversation completely to something irrelevant. Edit rules - not at all irrelevant as personal attacks are not acceptable either.

When you are busy, you do what you can to save time. I HAVE to spend time bidding on items, so I do it all at one time, instead of logging on multiple times throughout the day. I HAVE to pay for what I win, so it saves time to only pay once per day. If you can't see that, sorry.

Sir, I usually respect your posts as well. I am simply reacting to the tone a few pages ago when people were saying "almost all of my auctions are paid for in 5 minutes, there really is no excuse to not pay that quickly". I am simply saying there ARE reasons why people would not pay for an auction immediately, that reason in my case being I set up snipes and am not on Ebay when I win bids. THerefor, I go on Ebay that night, or maybe the next night if I have other snipes set for the same seller, and pay accordingly. If people believe that is wrong, that for some reason I have to stop my life to rush to a computer to pay for an EBay auction win immediately, I find that silly. No other auction venue in the world treats me that way.
