Ms60, although I have to admit it ignorance to the mint mark styles for the series. Placement looks good enough for government work to me.

Edit looking closer at the stars and shape of the hair it's a counterfeit. They dont have the same shape. Her mouth is also wrong.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Question for someone more familiar with the series:

Is the weakness of the lettering on the ribbon (IGWT) typical for the series/date?
Is the shallowness of "Half Dollar" common?

These are the two things I noticed first as being off. Not being an expert in the series I didn't immediately notice the mintmark (although if I were buying a coin like this I would do thorough research and figure it out).

Thank you for everyone who participated!

A couple of points- the coin is in fact counterfeit. As I learned from my friends in the LSCC club it is accurate except:

    1) The obverse is from an 1872 Philadelphia obverse by die state
    2) The reverse is from an 1875-S (for all who said it didn't match any of the 3 known mintmarks or locations)
    3) the edge reed count is from an 1876.

The coin was originally in the following TPG slab:

It was removed from the initial slab and currently in the following:

I am shocked PCGS not only missed to check the MM style/position, but they also net graded it to AU53. It sure looks like a problem coin at first glance.
