I was really thrilled to find this unlisted Domitian denarius recently. Domitian AR Denarius Rome mint, 85 AD RIC 392A (R3), BMC - , RSC - Obv: IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM P M TR P V; Head of Domitian, laureate, bearded, r. Rev: IMP XI COS XI CENS P P P; Minerva stg. l., with thunderbolt and spear; shield at her side (M3) A previously unknown Minerva type 3 from Domitian's rare sixth issue of denarii for 85. Until this coin recently surfaced only three of the four standard Minerva types were known for this issue, now all four are accounted for. Ted Buttrey was notified of this coin's existence and he has assigned it as RIC 392A in the Flavian RIC Addenda. Several other rare denarius issues struck for Domitian throughout his reign are also missing the four standard Minerva types, it's only a matter of time before the missing ones surface. Keep your eyes peeled.
